White Fillings

Many people have had silver amalgam fillings in the past, which are unsightly.

Older silver fillings are 100% metal, 50% is made up of mercury which can corrode and expand, causing painful cracks in your teeth. When repaired with white fillings or porcelain onlays the end result is much stronger as they are bonded to your tooth. In conclusion there is less chance of toothache and they will have that all important natural appearance.

White or tooth coloured fillings are natural and long lasting and in recent years have become very popular.

Many people decide to switch to white fillings when older style amalgams need replacing due to normal ageing and general wear and tear. However, if you have discoloured or darker fillings that are visible when smiling or laughing, you may wish to change them for more aesthetic reasons.

The new generation of fillings are available in a varied range of colours and translucencies, so we will be able to match the colour of your teeth so your white fillings look completely natural.

Inlays and Onlays are used to repair cracked or broken teeth. They are tooth coloured fillings and are used for larger areas of the tooth. They can also be used on the front teeth to contour chipped teeth. They are tailor made by Dental Laboratory Technicians.

Cosmetic Bonding

Minor chips or small gaps can be disguised by bonding a white filling material onto the tips to restore the natural shape. Often we can bond these areas without the need for any local anaesthetic.

Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain crowns are an excellent and successful method of repairing broken, cracked, decayed or even heavily filled teeth.

In order to protect the tooth a crown will cover the tooth completely. It is matched up to your existing teeth colour giving you a complete natural look. They are extremely strong and as well looking great they will maintain the health of the tooth for many years.

Porcelain Onlays

Onlays are laboratory made porcelain fillings that are made to fit a cavity and then bonded to the tooth in the surgery. They enable as much of the natural tooth to be left as possible which helps keep gums healthy. This procedure reduces the amount of natural tooth we have to remove.

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are thin slices of porcelain. They are made to an exact fit to sit on top of the visible surfaces of your front teeth. You may consider veneers if you think your teeth are unsightly and discoloured or if you wish to cover worn or cracked teeth.

Bridges

If a tooth is missing it may spoil even the most beautiful smile, but a bridge can be used to fill the space where a tooth has fallen out or been removed.

By fixing a replacement tooth (or teeth) to the natural teeth at either side of the gap, a bridge will improve the your appearance and the way you bite, chew and even speak.

As with a crown, the colour is matched to that of your own teeth and, being very strong, a bridge can look and feel exactly like a natural tooth.
